A clear path to Hudson.

A clear and supportive pathway to joining our community. Our admissions team walks with families through every step—so you always know what comes next.

Getting Started

Admission built around your child.

At The Hudson School, finding the right educational fit is a collaborative process. We welcome applications from students who are excited about learning, eager to contribute to our community, and ready to embrace the opportunities a Hudson education offers. Admission decisions are based on student qualifications only—our policy is need-blind. We are currently accepting applicants for select grades in 2026–27, and the 2027–28 application cycle opens September 1, 2026.

Five stages from inquiry to enrollment.

  • Information Sessions & Tours

Attend an open house, information session, or schedule a personal campus tour to meet our faculty, see our classrooms, and learn what makes Hudson distinctive.

  • Application Submission

Submit your completed application online, including transcripts, teacher recommendations (English and Math), a student statement, and a parent statement.

  • Student Visits & Assessments

Students participate in age-appropriate assessments and classroom visits—from play-based activities for younger children to academic evaluations and interviews for Upper School applicants.

  • Admission Decision & Enrollment

Families receive admission decisions and are invited to accepted-student events. Enrollment contracts and deposits secure your child’s place for the following year.

Assessment by Division

Age-appropriate, never one-size-fits-all.

For Early Childhood and Elementary applicants, we use informal, play-based activities that let us observe curiosity and social readiness. Middle School candidates complete reading, writing, and math assessments alongside group activities. Upper School applicants undergo a comprehensive evaluation—academic assessment, interview, and writing sample—designed to reveal critical thinking and individual voice. We want every student to feel comfortable showing us their best.

What families most often ask.

Do you require the ISEE or SSAT?

No. Standardized test scores (ISEE, SSAT) are optional and may be submitted but are not required for admission to The Hudson School.

Does applying for financial aid affect our admission decision?

Not at all. The Hudson School is a need-blind institution—admission decisions are based solely on student qualifications. Financial aid applications are reviewed separately by the Financial Aid Committee.

In which grades do you accept new students?

We are currently accepting applicants for Preschool through Grade 12. Space varies by grade—contact our admissions office to confirm availability for the 2026–27 year. The 2027–28 cycle opens September 1, 2026.
