A community where every student belongs.

The Hudson School was founded on the idea that diversity is embraced, supported, and celebrated. In an ever-increasing global society, we believe that an education in a multicultural environment is not a supplement to learning — it is essential to it.

Our Commitment

Diversity is who we are.

The Hudson School promotes equal opportunities for employees and students and prohibits discriminatory practices on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, age, disability, and socioeconomic status, as well as any other protected category under federal, state, and local law. We believe in the value of a community comprised of individuals from different economic, racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds — because that breadth of perspective makes every student’s education richer.

Four principles that guide our practice.

  • Respect

We honor the dignity and worth of every individual in our community, celebrating different perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences.

  • Equity

We are committed to providing fair access to opportunities and resources, ensuring that all students can reach their full potential regardless of background.

  • Understanding

We foster empathy and cultural competency, encouraging students to appreciate and genuinely learn from our differences — inside and outside the classroom.

  • Action

We actively work to create positive change, both within our school community and in the broader world — through curriculum, clubs, service, and civic engagement.

Diversity in Practice

Lived every day, not just acknowledged.

Our curriculum includes diverse voices, perspectives, and histories across all subject areas. We celebrate holidays, traditions, and cultural events that reflect our community’s diversity. Our faculty receives ongoing training in culturally responsive teaching and inclusive practices. Students lead discussions about diversity and inclusion through clubs, forums, and peer education programs — including the Diversity Club’s Black History Month video series and the GSA’s LGBTQ+ allyship presentations.
