Challenging, relevant, and real.

Our Middle School curriculum is designed to challenge students academically while preparing them to engage thoughtfully with the world—as critical thinkers, ethical reasoners, and lifelong learners.

Our Academic Approach

Rigorous coursework with the support to succeed.

The Hudson School’s Middle School curriculum challenges students across every discipline while ensuring they never have to navigate difficulty alone. Small class sizes (12–15 students), dedicated grade-level coordinators, and an advisory program mean each student receives the individualized attention they need to grow. We don’t just cover material—we help students understand it deeply, make connections across subjects, and apply their learning to real problems.

College-Ready Skills, Starting Now

Building independence and critical thinking.

From 5th through 8th grade, students steadily take on greater intellectual and personal responsibility. Organizational skills, time management, and disciplined study habits are developed deliberately. Project-based learning, student government, and leadership opportunities give students real experience making decisions and owning outcomes. By 8th grade, students are writing weekly 1,000-word fiction pieces, competing in Tri-State Model Congress, and completing high school–level Algebra 1—fully ready for the Upper School.
