A school shaped by performance.

Performing arts are woven into the heritage of The Hudson School. From the black box stage to student-directed productions, our Upper School gives every student a place to find and develop their voice.

Our Heritage

Performing arts at the center of Hudson life.

Performing arts are an important part of The Hudson School’s heritage. Theater, dance, and performance have been integral to the school’s culture since its founding in 1978 — producing graduates who are confident, expressive, and deeply at ease in front of an audience.

The Black Box Theater

A professional space for student work.

The Hudson School’s black box theater gives Upper School students a genuine performance venue — flexible staging, professional lighting, and tiered seating. Students direct, design, and perform in full productions that draw the entire school community together.

Beyond the Stage

Skills that carry beyond the curtain.

Performing arts training at Hudson builds discipline, collaboration, and presence — qualities that matter far beyond the stage. Students learn script analysis, movement, voice, and the craft of storytelling in an environment that balances creative risk with rigorous preparation.
