Speak the world’s language.
The Hudson School values language learning as essential in a global economy — and takes pride in the depth and quality of its Spanish, French, and Latin program.
Language as a window into culture, identity, and connection.
The Hudson School values learning multiple languages in a global economy and takes pride in the quality of its language program. Studying a second — or third — language builds cognitive flexibility, cultural empathy, and communicative confidence. Our World Languages faculty guide students from foundational fluency through advanced literary and conversational competency, with coursework in Spanish, French, and Latin spanning all four Upper School years.

Spanish, French, and Latin — from foundations to fluency.
-
Spanish
Spanish instruction at The Hudson School develops all four language skills — reading, writing, speaking, and listening — through literature, conversation, and cultural study from the foundational to the advanced level.
-
French
The French program engages students in the language and culture of the French-speaking world, from grammar foundations through literary and conversational study at advanced levels — connecting students to a global francophone community.
-
Latin
Latin at The Hudson School is more than translation practice — it is an entry point into the foundations of Western culture, literature, philosophy, and law. Study of Latin also deepens students’ understanding of English vocabulary and grammar.
